Mariposa Agri-Nature Trail
For the last 5 years the Mariposa Agri-Nature Trail-Weekend in the Country has been putting on a spring and fall event a year. We have had on average 12 farm and ranch locations participate each time with many workshops and hands-on experiences. We are now expanding to include downtown Mariposa and the fairgrounds. We will have 5 family farm locations to still be able to have the hands-on experience. We will highlight home-grown heirloom tomatoes which are delicious.
The Mariposa Agri-Nature Trail is comprised of individuals who raise agricultural products on their lands and individuals committed to the protection of our natural heritage. Reflecting the policies and direction embedded in Mariposa County’s recently approved general plan, our goals are to:
• Promote and protect agriculture and help maintain the county’s rural character
• Educate others on agricultural activities and practices by sharing our first-hand experiences;
• Learn from each other how to live on and with the land without harming its productivity;
• Promote long-term stewardship of our agricultural legacy; and
• Develop respect and appreciation for the county’s natural resources and wildlife habitats.
Knowing that education is the key to protecting our bountiful & scenic landscape, we help others discover this area’s rich agricultural heritage; its mosaic of native plants, wildflowers, birds & other wildlife, and the many opportunities we have to enjoy them.
Mariposa Agri-Nature Trail invites interested residents to participate in our efforts and help us fulfill our mutual goals.
